What is Give to the Max Day?

Created as a launch party for GiveMN.org in 2009, Give to the Max Day has turned into Minnesota’s giving holiday. It is a special 24-hour period to highlight the work and worth of nonprofits and schools all across Minnesota, and a day for generous Minnesotans to give back what they can to the causes and organizations that mean the most to them. And as a bonus, GiveMN offers thousands of dollars in prizes to provide a little excitement, start some friendly competition, and help donors make their dollars go farther.

Give to the Max Day 2016 will be held from midnight to 11:59 pm on Thursday, November 17, 2016.

How Does it Work?

People interested in giving to a non-profit visit GiveMN.org, where they can search for the non-profit of their choice, or browse different causes to find a non-profit or school doing work they want to support.

The site is up and available for organizations and donors to use all year long, but on Nov. 17, “Give to the Max Day,” people are encouraged to make their annual contributions to help their favorite non-profits win prize money and “golden tickets.”  The 24-hour event also serves to raise awareness of philanthropy and create a spirit of community giving.

Last year more than 62,000 people donated over $18 million to more than 5,700 Minnesota non-profits and schools.

Why Should I Give?

We believe that any day is a great day to support the local nonprofits and schools strengthening our communities, but Give to the Max Day is a special day to celebrate thousands of nonprofits and schools across the state. Your Give to the Max Day donation will be eligible for random drawings to have extra money added to it, and will help your favorite cause compete for more prize money on our leader boards.

Can I Schedule My Gift/Donation in Advance of Give to the Max Day?

Yes! From November 1 through November 16, 2016, all gifts made through GiveMN.org will be automatically scheduled to process on November 17 – Give to the Max Day. This means you may schedule your gifts early to be eligible for prizes.

How Much of My Money Goes to the Non-Profit?

When you make a gift, 95.1 percent of it goes to the cause you are supporting. So if you give $20 to an organization, they will receive $19.02. If you give $100, they will receive $95.10.

GiveMN is excited to provide a feature that allows donors to pitch in just a little bit more! When donors make a gift through GiveMN.org, they may choose to pay the 6.9% processing fee on behalf of an organization, ensuring that 100% of their donation goes directly to that cause! This option is available year-round and on Give to the Max Day.

GiveMN does not charge any sign-up or subscription fees to use GiveMN.org or to participate in Give to the Max Day.

Is There a Minimum Donation?

Yes, the year-round minimum donation on GiveMN.org is $10.00 and it is the same on Give to the Max Day. There is no maximum donation.
