Senior Community Services is an organization that relies heavily on volunteers to augment its professional staff.
Last year alone, we engaged thousands of amazing volunteers to assist seniors and support their caregivers. Here are just some of the opportunities currently available:
Medicare Health Insurance Counselor
We are looking for more Medicare Health Insurance Counselors for Hennepin and Wright counties. Extensive training is provided with ongoing training for current volunteers. MHIC volunteers provide information and education to Medicare beneficiaries and their families on any Medicare related issue. Volunteer positions include: inperson counseling help, over the phone help, internet assistance, forms assistance, presentations and classes on Medicare topics. Ongoing support is provided by staff as well as opportunities to work on a team.
Our training for MHIC new volunteers is coming up this Summer and would love to have you join us. The application process needs to be completed prior to training. Please call: Kimberlee Bluhm, 952-767-7887 for more information and to apply.
H.O.M.E Program Volunteer
The Mission of the H.O.M.E. Program is to assist those age 60 and better with household chores to help promote independence. Each year we receive a growing number of requests for help with leaf raking, window washing, yard clean up, gardening, basement cleaning and garage sweeping. We rely completely on the generosity of volunteers to fulfill these requests. H.O.M.E. also places volunteers with individuals who need assistance with seasonal chores such as snow removal and lawn mowing. Our volunteer opportunities are flexible and great for individuals as well as groups.
“Your organization sent me 4 very pleasant, willing volunteers. I am an 85 year old widow who now is in charge of home maintenance. Thank you so much for your service.” -Ruby
