Volunteers Make a Difference

Volunteers Make a Difference
By: Valarie Anderson

Most of us have heard the adage “It takes a Village”. Here at Senior Community Services and the HOME program we are lucky that our village includes community friends that are willing to lend a heart and a hand to area seniors that need help raking their yards.

Last Fall we had nearly 2000 volunteers from community schools, churches, corporate groups, and families that raked 300 yards for neighborhood seniors. This Fall we plan to rake additional yards now that we have expanded into the city of Minneapolis.

The volunteers tell us that they want to make a difference in the community and the seniors receiving the help report that they have. To all our volunteers thank you for making our community look so much nicer as you help a senior remain in their home!
