The roles and responsibilities we have in life are bound to make us feel overwhelmed at times. Whether you are a spouse, a parent, a grandparent, a caregiver, a worker, a sibling, a friend, or a volunteer, we have all seen times of stress. But how do you know if you are experiencing BURN OUT?
Stress makes you feel like you have too much on your plate. You may feel frustrated, irritable, and exhausted. When you are stressed, you may have physical changes like increased blood pressure, headaches, stomach aches and your hair may even fall out! When you are stressed you are aware that it’s a short term feeling, and that your stress will eventually pass.
When you are experiencing “Burn Out,” you are beyond stressed. You may become disengaged, or feel trapped. Your emotions will be unstable. You may feel like you just don’t care anymore, and you may be cynical. If you feel burnt out, you really need to take a break and reevaluate your relationship or role. Taking time for yourself and talking to a trusted person about your feelings can help.
