Senior Community Services Celebrates 75 Years of Empowering Older Adults
Senior Community Services is proudly marking its 75th anniversary in 2025 with a celebratory event. The 75th Anniversary Celebration for Senior Community Services: A Diamond in Our Community will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Medina Entertainment Center.
The celebration will be a night out to remember, with casino tables to earn prizes, live music, food, and a cash bar. With an ambitious goal to raise $75,000, the organization aims to continue its mission of empowering people as they age for another 75 years.
Founded in 1950, Senior Community Services has grown significantly over the past seven and a half decades. Today, they serve over 30,000 older adults and caregivers annually, making it one of Minnesota’s top nonprofits in the field of aging.
The organization’s vision to “Reimagine Aging by serving compassionately, connecting communities, and supporting independence” has been at the forefront of its programs:
- HOME Program: Providing personal technology support, minor home repairs, and other non-medical household assistance
- Senior Outreach: Offering support from licensed social workers to navigate life changes
- Caregiver Services: Providing coaching, consultation, and support groups
- Senior Centers: Offering social, educational, and wellbeing activities
The organization will also honor CEO Deb Taylor’s remarkable 17-year leadership journey, concluding with her retirement on May 30, 2025. As CEO, Taylor fundamentally transformed the organization by incorporating lean startup principles, cultivating an entrepreneurial culture that prioritizes innovation and responsive programming. Her strategic vision placed collaborative decision-making at the forefront, keeping Senior Community Services agile and mission driven. As a result, they continue to meet the changing needs of older adults with forward-thinking approaches to community support.
